A hen party on a boat in Krakow can easily turn into just another party with a nice view. To make it truly yours, start with a theme – it will guide your colours, dress code, decorations and games. Then every element, from the invitation to the last photo on deck, comes together as one story. Below are our favourite Krakow hen party ideas for doing exactly that.
You’ll find five themes that look great on the water, a list of decorations that can stand up to the wind and a games plan for a two-hour cruise on the Vistula. At the end: packages, budget and a few practical tips for the maid of honour.
Krakow hen party ideas: themes for a boat party
A theme doesn’t have to mean head-to-toe fancy dress. A shared colour, one accessory and a slogan that appears on a banner or in your photo captions are enough.
| Theme | Colours | Dress code and accessories |
|---|---|---|
| Nautical | navy, white, red | stripes, white trousers, a captain’s hat for the bride, the slogan “Last sail before the veil” |
| Boho | beige, dusty pink, sage | floaty dresses, flower crowns, dried grasses in the decorations |
| Disco | silver, gold, black | sequins, sparkly glasses, mini disco balls |
| Royal Krakow | white, gold, burgundy | a tiara for the bride, crowns for her entourage, a “Queen of Wawel” sash |
| White plus colour | white plus one colour | the bride in white, everyone else in the chosen shade |
Flower crowns have an extra meaning in Krakow – “Wianki” (wreaths) is also the name of the annual midsummer spectacle on the Vistula below Wawel. The disco theme works best in the evening, when sequins catch the lasers from the Star and VIP packages, while nautical and boho look gorgeous in photos taken in the warm light of sunset.
Announce the theme in the invitation, along with the meeting time and a short list of things to bring. If the night is meant to be a surprise, the bride can be given just the dress code – she’ll discover the rest when she steps on board.
Boat decorations – what works on the water
On the river it’s usually windier than in the streets between the old townhouses, so decorations need to be tied down, not just laid out. You can order boat decorations as an extra – we’ll prepare them in your theme colours – and complete the look with a personalised banner featuring the bride’s name or the slogan of the night.
- Balloons only if tied and weighted. A loose helium balloon will vanish over the river within moments – and so will your photo with it.
- No confetti or glitter. Anything that spills onto the deck will end up in the Vistula sooner or later, and it makes the deck slippery too.
- Fabric garlands and sashes. They cope with the wind better than paper, and you can take them home after the party.
- Boho hen party decorations – tie dried flowers and grasses into bunches rather than laying them loose on the tables.
- Accessories for the guests. Headbands, glasses, wrist ribbons – little extras everyone can put on as soon as they board.
Games on deck – a plan for a 2-hour cruise on the Vistula
Two hours fly by, so it’s worth scheduling the games so that they alternate with dancing and photo moments. This running order works well:
- Welcome (first 15 minutes). The bride’s grand entrance, a toast and a short speech from the maid of honour. With the Star and VIP packages, a red carpet awaits.
- Mr & Mrs quiz (until the 40-minute mark). Record the groom’s answers in advance and compare them with what the bride says.
- Photo challenges (until the 60-minute mark). A shot list to tick off: a photo with the veil against a bridge, a group portrait in your theme colours, and a shot with Wawel in the background if the route goes past the castle.
- Dancing (until the 90-minute mark). Each guest adds two songs to a shared playlist – you can plug in your own music even with the Basic package, and with VIP a DJ takes charge of it.
- Wishes for the finale. A jar of advice for the new wife, or cards with wishes for the bride to open after the wedding.

A hen party on a boat in Krakow with BoatParty – packages and budget
For a hen party on a boat in Krakow you hire the boat for 2 hours, and we agree the departure time, boarding point and route when you book. Packages cost from €20 per person (Basic), from €27 per person (Star) and from €36 per person (VIP), for groups of 30 or more. For a smaller group we’ll prepare an individual quote.
Star is a good choice if you want to bring your own prosecco – bringing alcohol is included, and a cooler with ice and glasses are waiting for you on board. VIP includes, among other things, a DJ, a bartender or hostess, a dedicated Partymaker and a photographer, so the maid of honour doesn’t have to keep an eye on everything herself. With any package you can add catering, boat decorations, a souvenir HD film or a live performance. You’ll find a comparison of what’s included under hen party packages, and other occasions on our page for boat parties in Krakow.
The cost is usually split between the guests, with the bride’s share covered by her friends. For example, with 30 guests and the Star package, the starting point is 30 × €27, i.e. approx. €810. If the bride doesn’t pay, that amount is spread over 29 people – roughly €28 a head, before extras. Give us your date and group size, and we’ll prepare a quote that’s easy to split within the group.
Practical tips for a hen party in Krakow
- Flat shoes. Save the heels for the club – on deck, stability is what counts. Follow the crew’s instructions and don’t lean over the side.
- Hair and veil. Pin the veil securely and fix your hair with clips – the wind over the water can catch you out.
- A warmer layer. After sunset it gets chilly on the Vistula, so a wrap or cover-up in your theme colour will come in handy.
- Time the cruise for photos. In June the sun sets in Krakow at around 20:50, in mid-August at around 20:00 – setting off an hour earlier gives you the best light.
- No toasts on the riverside. Drinking alcohol in public places is prohibited in Poland, and Krakow has a night-time ban on alcohol sales in shops – so plan any after-party at your apartment in advance.

Frequently asked questions – a hen party on a boat in Krakow
Can we decorate the boat for a hen party?
Yes. Boat decorations are one of our extras – we’ll prepare them in your theme colours. You can also order a personalised banner, for example with the bride’s name.
Can we bring our own prosecco?
Yes. In the Star package, bringing your own alcohol is included in the price, and with the other packages you can add it as an extra.
Which theme should we choose for a hen party on a boat?
Colour-based themes look best on the water: nautical, boho, disco, or white plus one colour for the whole group. Disco suits an evening cruise with a light show best.
Will there be photos from the cruise?
Photo coverage is included in the VIP package. With the other packages you can add a photographer or a souvenir HD film as an extra.
