Looking for ideas for a Poznan hen do that does not boil down to yet another table in a club? A simple formula works a treat: a relaxed afternoon in the city, two hours on a private cruise along the Warta at sunset, and an evening in the centre for anyone who still has the energy. Below we lay out that plan step by step – with the budget, choosing a package, decorations and logistics.
This article was written with the maid of honour or best friend in mind – the one organising everything herself who wants to be sure nothing slips through the cracks.
Poznan Hen Do – Ideas for the Day’s Plan
An outline schedule that is easy to shift by an hour either way:
| Time (example) | What’s on | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 15:00 | Meet up and “kidnap” the bride-to-be | sash, veil, first photos |
| 15:30–17:30 | An activity on dry land | a workshop, a photo shoot by the Warta or a walk around Ostrów Tumski |
| 18:00 | A light meal | something proper before the cruise, so the toasts don’t land on an empty stomach |
| 19:30–21:30 | Cruise on the Warta | two hours of music, games and views; we will match the start time to the sunset |
| from 22:00 | Evening in the centre or head home | bars and restaurants around the Old Market Square, or a relaxed trip back to your accommodation |
For the afternoon activity, pick something that gets the whole group involved but won’t wear everyone out before the evening:
- workshops – for example floristry, beauty or mocktail-making;
- a shoot with a photographer by the Warta – photos in your themed outfits before it gets dark;
- a walk around Ostrów Tumski and Śródka – the cathedral, Śródka Market Square (Rynek Śródecki) and the mural “Opowieść śródecka” (The Tale of Śródka) make a great backdrop for photos.
If you start earlier, you can also fit in the Old Market Square (Stary Rynek): every day at noon, Poznan’s famous mechanical goats (koziołki) come out on the town hall tower and butt heads. It is the perfect excuse for your first group photo.
Step 1 – Budget, Guest List and Date
Start with the numbers. Draw up the guest list and ask how much each person can spend on the whole evening. Traditionally the bride-to-be does not pay, so her share is split among the rest of the group. Collect deposits with a firm payment deadline – it is the best way to stop the list changing right up to the last day.
BoatParty package prices are quoted for groups of 30 or more. For a smaller crew, you can use our small-groups offer (up to 30 people) with an individual quote. We accept bookings up to 5 working days before the event, but Saturdays in the summer season are worth booking well in advance.
- send out a poll with 2–3 possible dates;
- agree one amount per person that covers the cruise, food and the little extras;
- appoint one person to deal with the cruise organiser.
Step 2 – Package, Theme and Decorations for Your Poznan Hen Do Boat
Which package to choose
Every package includes hiring the boat for 2 hours. The choice depends on how much you want to sort out yourselves:
- Basic (from €16 per person) – the boat, music and the option to plug in your own playlist. A good choice if you have your own ideas for games and snacks.
- Star (from €20 per person) – on top of that, lights and lasers, a welcome beer or 3 bottles of vodka, champagne or prosecco, 6 litres of soft drinks and juices, savoury snacks, a red-carpet entrance, an ice cooler, glasses and the option to bring your own alcohol.
- VIP (from €31 per person) – a welcome drink and 10 bottles of vodka, champagne or wine, 20 litres of soft drinks and juices, a DJ with equipment, a bartender or hostess, a Partymaker (your on-board party host) and a photo report. For the organiser who wants to enjoy the night too, rather than keep an eye on everything.
You can add extras to any package: boat decorations, a personalised banner with the bride-to-be’s name, a souvenir HD film, catering or a live performance. We have gathered the details on the hen party boat in Poznan page.
Theme, dress code and decorations
A theme ties the photos together and makes shopping easier. These work well on a boat:
- nautical – stripes, navy and white, and a captain’s hat for the bride-to-be;
- white and gold – elegant, with gold balloons and white sashes;
- back in time – a playlist and outfits from the decade the bride-to-be grew up in.
When it comes to the dress code, think about shoes: flat soles are much better than stilettos on deck, and you can keep your heels in your bag for later. Bring something warmer for the evening, as it can be cooler on the water than in the streets. If you are dreaming of a joint party with the groom’s crew, have a look at our guide on how to plan a joint stag and hen do.
Step 3 – Games on Deck and Things to Do in Poznan Before the Cruise
Two hours fly by, so plan two or three games and leave the rest of the time for dancing and chatting. Tried-and-tested ideas:
- a quiz about the couple – questions prepared in advance with the groom-to-be;
- “bride missions” to complete on deck, such as a photo with each of the girls against the backdrop of the bridges you pass;
- a toast at sunset and letters with wishes that the couple will open after the wedding.
You will find more inspiration in our round-up of games for a boat party. Before the cruise, a photo shoot by the Warta goes down well – on the Berdychowo Bridges (Mosty Berdychowskie), whose railings light up in the evening, or with a view of the cathedral towers on Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island). What else you can see from the deck is covered in our post on the Poznan river cruise route on the Warta.
Step 4 – Getting Around Poznan, Logistics and Safety
The boarding point and start time are agreed when you book. Once you know them, send your guests a single message with the address, a meeting time with 15 minutes to spare and travel information – by tram, by taxi or from Poznań Główny, the main railway station, for anyone arriving from out of town (and from Poznań Ławica airport if some of you are flying in). You will find the other occasions we organise cruises for in the city on the BoatParty Poznan page.
A few simple rules apply on board: follow the crew’s instructions, do not lean over the side when taking photos and keep an eye on the pace of the toasts. Water and snacks within reach are the best way to make sure the bride-to-be remembers the whole evening, not just the beginning.
Frequently Asked Questions – a Hen Party on a Boat in Poznan
Can we bring our own alcohol on board?
Yes. With the Star package, bringing your own alcohol is included in the price, and with the other packages you can add it as an extra.
Can the boat be decorated for a hen party?
Yes – boat decorations and a personalised banner, for example with the bride-to-be’s name, are extras you can order when you book.
What if there are fewer than 30 of us?
Package prices apply to groups of 30 or more. For smaller crews we have a “Small groups” offer with an individual quote – just send an enquiry with your date and number of guests.
Can we play our own music?
Yes – the option to plug in your own music is already included in the Basic package. With the VIP package the music is run by a DJ with equipment, and you can send them a list of the bride-to-be’s favourite songs.
How far in advance do we need to book the cruise?
No later than 5 working days before the event. Weekends in the summer season are worth booking well in advance – the earlier you book, the better the offer.
Poznan Hen Do – Summary
A great hen do is a handful of well-chosen moments, not a marathon of activities. An afternoon in the city, two hours on the Warta and a relaxed finale in the centre are enough to make the bride-to-be feel truly special.
