A Katowice hen party doesn’t have to mean yet another night in the same old clubs. Just 20 km or so is all it takes to swap the city dance floor for a private cruise on the Pogoria lakes in Dąbrowa Górnicza – with music, a toast and a sunset in the background. This article is for the maid of honour and the bride’s friends who want to organise everything smoothly and without the stress.
We’ll show you how to plan the day, which package to choose, how to sort out the kitty and what to keep in mind so that the bride-to-be remembers the night with a smile.
Katowice hen party – why set sail on Lake Pogoria
A boat gives you something no venue can: the whole deck just for you. You don’t share the dance floor with strangers, you choose the music yourselves, and the scenery changes every few minutes. The cruise lasts 2 hours, so it works brilliantly as the highlight of the day.
Pogoria is four lakes created in former sand pits, with wide stretches of water and green shores. How they differ and what to see nearby is covered in our guide to Pogoria in Dąbrowa Górnicza. For you, though, what matters most is something else: space, light and photos you’d never get in the city centre.
The day plan – from Katowice to a sunset cruise
Here’s a sample plan for a group starting out in Katowice. The cruise time is agreed individually, so you can move the whole thing to earlier in the afternoon or later in the evening.
| Time of day | What’s on | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Early afternoon | brunch, a workshop or a spa in Katowice | book your table or session in advance |
| Late afternoon | getting ready, a sash and veil for the bride-to-be | pack flat shoes to change into |
| Approx. 1.5 hours before sunset | travel together by minibus to Pogoria | all together, no changes |
| Evening | 2-hour cruise: toast, games, dancing, photos | a sunset during the cruise gives you the best light |
| After the cruise | back to Katowice for dinner or a club | book transport for both ways right from the start |
If you like a city vibe, take a stroll along the pedestrianised Mariacka Street when you’re back – for years it’s been one of the favourite meeting places in central Katowice. Prefer something calmer? Book dinner and treat the cruise as the grand finale of the day.
Which package for a hen party on a boat near Katowice
In Katowice, prices start from €20 per person for Basic, from €27 for Star and from €36 for VIP – for groups of 30 or more. So how do you choose?
- Basic – when you have your own ideas for the party and simply want the boat to yourselves. You can plug in your own playlist, so put together a list of the bride’s favourite songs.
- Star – a good choice if you want a “wow” effect from the very first minute: lasers and lighting effects, a red-carpet entrance, a welcome beer or 3 bottles of prosecco, champagne or vodka, savoury snacks, a cooler with ice and glasses. With this package you can also bring your own alcohol.
- VIP – when the maid of honour wants to enjoy the party rather than keep an eye on everything: the price includes a Partymaker to look after your group, a bartender or hostess, a DJ with equipment and photo coverage.
With any package you can add boat decorations, catering, a keepsake HD film or a live performance. We’ve gathered all the options on our page about hen parties on a boat in Katowice.
Surprises for the bride-to-be on board
Two hours fly by, so it’s worth having a few ideas up your sleeve:
- a personalised banner with her name or a funny slogan – a ready-made backdrop for group photos,
- a “How well do you know the groom?” quiz with answers recorded in advance by her husband-to-be,
- a shared dress code in the colour theme of the night,
- a letter from her friends, read aloud at sunset,
- a keepsake HD film you’ll come back to in a few years’ time.

Logistics for the maid of honour – date, kitty and getting to Pogoria
- Date. Send the booking form at least 5 working days before the event. For a summer Saturday, get in touch much earlier – the sooner you book, the better the offer and the wider the choice of times.
- Group size. Package prices are for groups of 30 or more. If there are fewer of you, send an enquiry and we’ll prepare an individual quote.
- The kitty. Agree from the start whether the bride-to-be is the guest of honour who doesn’t pay, and collect everyone’s share before confirming the booking. A simple spreadsheet will save you chasing people in the final week.
- Getting there. Pogoria is about 20 km from Katowice. The most convenient option is a minibus from one meeting point; alternatively, the Koleje Śląskie (Silesian Railways) S1 train to Dąbrowa Górnicza takes about half an hour. We’ll give you the boarding point when you book, and you’ll find general information about the cruises on our page about boat parties in Katowice.
The maid of honour’s bag – what to bring on a Pogoria cruise
The maid of honour is usually the one who “has everything”. Before you get on the minibus in Katowice, check that your bag contains:
- a power bank and cable – phones will be working non-stop as cameras,
- hair grips, hair ties and hairspray – the wind over the water soon ruins a hairdo,
- a spare hoodie or scarf for whoever forgets a warmer layer,
- plasters for blisters, and tissues,
- accessories: veil, sash, headbands – leave the confetti at home, though, as it easily ends up in the water from the deck,
- a printed list of everyone in the group and a day plan with times for the minibus driver.
It’s also a good idea to put one person in charge of photos, so you’re sure to get a group shot of the whole crew before the sun disappears below the horizon.
Safe and stylish – rules on the water
Even the best party needs a few simple rules. Wear comfortable shoes on board – save the stilettos for dinner. Follow the crew’s instructions and don’t lean over the side, not even for the perfect selfie.
Drink in moderation and alternate toasts with water and snacks. Don’t go into the lake after the cruise – the City of Dąbrowa Górnicza makes it clear that swimming under the influence of alcohol is not allowed. Also remember that on the beaches and paths around the lakes, as in other public places in Poland, drinking alcohol is generally prohibited.
Frequently asked questions – a Katowice hen party on a boat
How far from Katowice is the cruise?
The boat sails on the Pogoria lakes in Dąbrowa Górnicza, about 20 km from central Katowice. We give you the exact boarding point when you book, so it’s easy to order a minibus to a specific address.
Can you organise a hen party for a group of a dozen or so?
Yes. Package prices are for groups of 30 or more, but for smaller groups we prepare an individual quote. Just send an enquiry with your date and the number of people in your group.
What time should we set sail for the best photos?
Ideally about an hour to an hour and a half before sunset. In mid-June the sun sets over Pogoria at around 20:55, and in mid-August just after 20:00, so it’s worth matching the start of the cruise to your date.
What should we wear on the cruise?
Comfortable flat shoes and something warmer for the evening, as it can be cooler by the water. A veil, a sash and a shared dress code in your theme colour are more than welcome.
A hen party on the water involves less logistics than you might think: one minibus, a two-hour cruise and a plan for the rest of the evening. Send us your date and the size of your group – we’ll prepare an initial offer and help you put together a programme the bride-to-be will remember for a long time.
