There are a hundred ways to organise a Bydgoszcz stag do, but the ones people remember best have a clear plan and one big highlight. A private boat on the Brda fits that role perfectly: two hours just for your group, music you choose yourselves and the city seen from the river.
Below you’ll find a plan running from afternoon to night, a to-do list for the best man, a package comparison and a few ground rules that will help the groom-to-be make it to the end in good shape.
Bydgoszcz stag do – the best man’s to-do list
- Who’s in and the budget: agree the amount per person and a payment deadline before you book.
- Date: cruises run during the season, from spring to autumn. The form has to reach us at least 5 working days before the party, and summer weekends are worth booking much earlier.
- Guests from other cities: Bydgoszcz has direct rail links with most of Poland’s major cities, the S5 expressway and national road 10 run through the city, and it has its own airport for anyone flying in. Find out straight away who needs somewhere to stay.
- One group chat: meeting time, dress code and rule number one – nobody tells the groom the plan.
The group budget – what to include
Most disagreements within a group come from costs nobody mentioned at the start. Before you collect the money, list every item:
- the cruise – the package priced per person, plus any extras such as catering;
- an activity before the cruise and a meal;
- the after-party, taxis and accommodation for the out-of-towners;
- T-shirts, a costume and small props;
- the groom’s share – traditionally split between the rest of the group.
It’s good practice to keep a small kitty for unexpected expenses. If anything’s left over, it’ll cover a group breakfast the next morning.
A stag do plan for Bydgoszcz with a Brda river cruise
| Time (example) | What’s on | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 16:00 | Meet-up and “kidnapping” the groom | Sort out the costume or group T-shirts in advance |
| 17:00 | Warm-up in town: bowling or pool | Ideally alcohol-free – you’ll need the energy later |
| 18:30 | A proper meal | Don’t set sail on an empty stomach |
| 20:00–22:00 | Boat cruise on the Brda | Time for toasts, speeches and group photos |
| After 22:00 | After-party in the centre, around the Old Market Square | Agree in advance who’s heading home when, and how |
The times are just an example – the departure time is set individually, so the cruise can also take place in the afternoon or at sunset. A fun fact for the meet-up: at 13:13 and 21:13, Master Twardowski – the sorcerer of Polish legend – appears in a window of the townhouse at Stary Rynek 15 on the Old Market Square. The 18th meridian also runs across the square – a good spot for the group’s “official” photo.
A more laid-back version
Not every groom dreams of a night out in the clubs. If your group prefers conversation to the dance floor, plan a sunset cruise followed by a long dinner in the centre. This also works well when the group includes dads, future fathers-in-law or mates who have to be up early the next day. The night ends earlier, but the memories are just as good – and there’s no rough morning after.
Which package for a Bydgoszcz stag do?
In Bydgoszcz, prices start from €16 per person for the Basic package, €20 for Star and €31 for VIP. They apply to groups of 30 or more; a smaller group gets an individual quote. Whichever option you choose, the boat is yours for 2 hours.
- Basic – music and the option to plug in your own. For groups who have their own playlist and sort out the rest themselves.
- Star – adds a light show with lasers, a welcome beer or 3 bottles (vodka, champagne or prosecco), 6 litres of soft drinks and juices, savoury snacks, a cooler with ice and the option to bring your own drinks.
- VIP – a welcome drink plus 10 bottles (vodka, champagne or wine), 20 litres of soft drinks, a Partymaker (your on-board party host), a bartender or hostess, a DJ with equipment and a photo report. The best man can finally relax.
On top of that come the extras: catering (including a barbecue), live performances, a commemorative HD film or additional entertainment on request. For stag dos we can also help with a guide or Partymaker to show you around town – pubs, bowling, pool – as well as with accommodation and transport. You’ll find the details in our offer for a stag do on a boat in Bydgoszcz, and the other occasions on the BoatParty Bydgoszcz page.
Games on board and Bydgoszcz from the water
Games that need no props
- “How well do you know your future wife?” – questions recorded in advance by the bride on her phone. Get one wrong and the group sets you a forfeit.
- The 60-second speech – everyone gets a minute for an anecdote about the groom, and the whole group picks the best one.
- The captain’s mission – a list of tasks for the cruise: a photo of the whole group, a toast in five languages, a song with a dedication.
You’ll find the full list of ideas in our round-up of 25 boat party games. If you’re still undecided, our comparison a boat, a party tram or a club – what to choose for a stag do will help.
What you can see from the deck
Even the wildest cruise has a moment for looking around. Depending on the route, you can see Opera Nova on a bend of the Brda, Rother’s Mills (Młyny Rothera) on Mill Island and the three half-timbered granaries that are the city’s official symbol. Above the current, “Man Crossing the River” – a sculpture by Jerzy Kędziora unveiled in 2004 – balances on a tightrope. In the evening the landmarks and waterfront are lit up, so group photos against the river look spectacular. Read more about the views in our guide to a Bydgoszcz river cruise on the Brda.
Ground rules for the group – making the stag do a success
- Drink water and eat between toasts – the snacks in the Star and VIP packages aren’t just there for decoration.
- No pushing and shoving, and no leaning over the side. The crew’s word is final.
- On the boulevards and in the streets, the alcohol stays out of sight – drinking in public places is generally forbidden in Poland.
- The groom is there to have a good time, not to tick off one challenge after another. Banter, yes; humiliation, no.
- Plan the journey home: accommodation close to the centre, taxis and contact details for everyone in the group.
- Choose one person who stays completely sober all night and keeps an eye on things – they’ll be invaluable for settling up, sorting taxis and rounding everyone up.
