A Vistula cruise for a Warsaw hen party is an idea that practically plans the rest of the night for you: there’s time for photos, a toast, games and dancing, and once you’re back on dry land the whole city is yours. The key is to make the cruise the centrepiece of the evening, not a random stop somewhere between dinner and a club.
Below you’ll find a running order that the maid of honour can copy and adapt to her group – with timings, a to-do list and tips on what to book and what to prepare yourselves.
A Warsaw hen party cruise on the Vistula – where to start
Before you start buying sashes, make four decisions:
- How many of you will there be? Package prices apply to groups of 30 or more. For a smaller group we’ll prepare an individual quote. If there are just a few of you and you don’t mind sharing the boat with other guests, an alternative is the ticketed boat party in Warsaw – every Saturday evening in season.
- What time of day? The afternoon is calmer and brighter, sunset gives you the best photos, and the evening means more dancing and lights.
- Surprise or not? If the bride-to-be doesn’t know where she’s going, you’ll need someone to bring her along – and a good excuse.
- The date – we accept bookings up to 5 working days before the event, but summer Saturdays are worth securing much earlier.
Split up the jobs straight away, too. The maid of honour collects the money and stays in touch with us, one person handles decorations and props, another takes care of the playlist and games, and a third sorts out transport and the after-party. With a group of a dozen or more, this division of labour saves dozens of messages in the group chat – and the bride doesn’t have to tie up any loose ends herself.
Warsaw hen party plan – hour by hour
Here’s a sample running order for a cruise departing at 19:00. The departure time is agreed individually, so shift everything as needed:
| Time | What’s happening | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 16:30 | A meal together, make-up, final touches | Eat something substantial – there are snacks on board, not dinner |
| 18:15 | Meet up and take photos near the boarding point | One person looks after the bag with the props and the present |
| 18:45 | Boarding | With the Star and VIP packages – a red-carpet welcome |
| 19:00–19:45 | Toast, games, a quiz about the couple | Plan the games for the start, while everyone’s still focused |
| 19:45–21:00 | Music, dancing, photos with city views | In the evening you’ll be glad of a jumper or jacket |
| 21:15 | Back on dry land and on to the after-party | Book transport and a table in advance |
Prefer an afternoon cruise? Move everything a few hours earlier and swap the after-party for dinner. On an evening cruise, remember that the Star and VIP packages include a light show with lasers – the perfect moment for dancing – so it’s better to take your group photos on the riverbank while it’s still light.
Hen party on a boat in Warsaw – what to book and what to prepare
We have three packages for a hen party in Warsaw. Basic, from €20 per person, is the boat for 2 hours with music and the option to plug in your own playlist. Star, from €27 per person, adds a light show with lasers, a welcome beer or 3 bottles of vodka, champagne or prosecco, 6 litres of soft drinks and juices, savoury snacks, a red carpet and the option to bring your own alcohol. VIP, from €36 per person, includes a DJ with equipment, a bartender or hostess, a dedicated Partymaker and photo coverage, among other things. Prices apply to groups of 30 or more – you’ll find the full description on our hen party on a boat in Warsaw page.
As for extras, a hen party is a great excuse for boat decorations, a personalised banner with the bride’s name, games and activities, catering, photo coverage or a keepsake HD video. Discuss any additional entertainment you’d like when you book – you’ll find the full list of extras on our Warsaw boat parties page.
Prepare the most personal touches yourselves. Here’s a checklist for the maid of honour:
- a sash and veil for the bride-to-be, and headbands or badges for everyone else,
- printed quiz questions and dare cards,
- a playlist saved offline on your phone – with the Basic package you can plug in your own music,
- a power bank, tissues and plasters for blisters,
- water for every guest,
- the present and a card signed by everyone.
Games on deck and a dress code for a hen party cruise
On a boat, the best games are the ones that don’t involve running around: a quiz about the couple with answers recorded beforehand by the groom-to-be, dare cards to complete during the cruise, ‘Who said it?’ with quotes from the girls, or song dedications. You’ll find more ideas in our round-up of 25 boat party games.
Agree the dress code in advance – for example white for the bride and one theme colour for everyone else that will look good in photos with the Vistula in the background. Instead of stilettos, go for flats or a sturdy heel, because sure footing is what counts on deck. Follow the crew’s instructions and don’t lean over the side, not even for the perfect shot.
Plan one quieter moment, too – a few words of good wishes from each of you, or a letter from her mum or sister read out loud. On the water, with the city in the background, moments like these mean far more than they would in a noisy club – and with the VIP package, photo coverage is included.
After the cruise – how to round off a hen night in Warsaw
Once you’re back on dry land, you have a few options depending on how much energy the group has left:
- A relaxed finale – a stroll along the boulevards and, from May to the end of September, the free show at the Multimedia Fountain Park in Podzamcze, which starts after dark.
- Dinner – book a table in advance, ideally not far from the boarding point.
- A club or karaoke – plan how you’ll get there in advance; in the centre, metro line M2 helps, with Centrum Nauki Kopernik station right by the boulevards.
- Staying together – if some of the group are coming from outside Warsaw, book an apartment or hotel in the centre so you don’t end up scattered across the city after the after-party.
If both groups – the bride’s and the groom’s – want to celebrate together, take a look at our guide on how to plan a joint stag and hen do on a boat. And for what you’ll see from the deck, check out our guide to the Vistula river cruise route in Warsaw.
Frequently asked questions – Warsaw hen party on the Vistula
How much does a Vistula cruise for a hen party in Warsaw cost?
Packages start from €20 per person (Basic), €27 per person (Star) and €36 per person (VIP). Prices apply to groups of 30 or more; for smaller groups we prepare an individual quote.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
With the Star package, bringing your own alcohol is included in the price; with the other packages you can add it as an extra. Remember water and moderation – the bride-to-be should be able to remember this night.
There are only eight of us – does a private cruise make sense?
For smaller groups we prepare an individual quote. The alternative is the Saturday ticketed party for €60 per person, with a 2-hour cruise, an open bar, games and a photographer – in that case you’ll be sailing together with other guests.
Can we decorate the boat?
Yes – boat decorations and a personalised banner, for example with the bride’s name, are extras you can order when you book.
What’s the best time to set sail for a hen party?
The time is agreed individually: in the afternoon, at sunset or in the evening. If photos are your priority, go for sunset; if it’s all about dancing and lights, choose the evening.
