A Szczecin wedding reception on a boat tempts you with a view no venue can offer: the Oder, the Chrobry Embankment (Wały Chrobrego) and the port quays as the backdrop to your first toast. But for a party on the water to be a pleasure rather than a logistical challenge, you need to pick the right format.
With every BoatParty package you hire the boat for 2 hours. That’s why a cruise works best as an intimate reception, a spectacular highlight of the wedding day or as poprawiny – the Polish tradition of a second, more relaxed party the day after the wedding. Below we describe all three options, a sample plan for the day and practical tips for the couple and their guests.
Szczecin wedding reception on a boat – three formats that work
An intimate reception after the ceremony
For couples who want to celebrate with their nearest and dearest. A toast, good wishes, catering, your first dance on deck and group photos with a view of the city. If you’ll have fewer than 30 guests, we’ll prepare an individual quote – see also our offer for small groups in Szczecin.
A cruise as part of the wedding day
There’s usually a gap between the ceremony and the dinner – the couple go off for their photo shoot while the guests wait. A two-hour cruise turns that time into an attraction: everyone’s together, there’s a toast and something to eat, and then the whole group moves on to the rest of the celebration.
The day-after party on the water
The day after the wedding the atmosphere is more relaxed, and guests are happy to spend a few more hours together. Barbecue catering, your own playlist and a cruise on the Oder make for poprawiny that stand out from yet another lunch in a restaurant.
A wedding day plan with an Oder cruise – an example
The example assumes an afternoon cruise as part of the wedding day. The departure time is agreed individually, so the plan is easy to shift.
| Time | What’s happening | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 14:00 | Wedding ceremony | Put the full plan for the day on the invitations |
| 15:00 | Photo shoot on the Chrobry Embankment | The monumental staircase, the fountain and the lighthouse-like towers make ready-made shots |
| 16:00 | Boarding, welcome drink | We confirm the boarding point when you book |
| 16:15–18:15 | Cruise: toast, good wishes, catering, first dance | Schedule the speeches at the start, before the party gets going |
| 18:45 | Dinner and the rest of the reception | Arrange transport for guests from the landing point to the venue |
Dreaming of a toast at sunset? Bear in mind that in June and July the sun sets in Szczecin after 21:00, so a cruise like that suits an intimate reception or poprawiny better than a traditional wedding day. The Chrobry Embankment stands on the western bank of the Oder – at sunset its buildings stand out against a colourful sky. What else you can see from the deck, depending on the route, is described in our article Szczecin river cruise – what you’ll see from the deck.
A photo shoot by the Oder – other locations
The Chrobry Embankment is the classic, but there are more great spots by the Oder in central Szczecin. The terraces of the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle (Zamek Książąt Pomorskich) give you a historic backdrop with a view of the river. Bulwar Piastowski with the Sailors’ Avenue (Aleja Żeglarzy) suits couples who like a nautical touch, and the nautical-style “SZCZECIN” sign on the little square at the end of Nabrzeże Starówka (the Old Town quay) is a ready-made photo with the whole family. For bolder shots there’s Łasztownia island: the historic port cranes known as the Dźwigozaury (“Craneosaurs”) and the modern Maritime Science Centre create an industrial backdrop that looks good both by day and after dark, when they’re lit up.

Wedding guests on board – practical tips
- Punctuality. You hire the boat for 2 hours, so every minute of delay means less time on the water. Ask guests to arrive 15 minutes before departure.
- Older guests. An afternoon cruise is more comfortable for them than an evening one. Ask a family member to look after the grandparents when boarding.
- The bride. With a long train, it helps to have someone to lift it when boarding. A second, more comfortable pair of shoes for the deck is a good idea too.
- Something warm. It can be cooler on the water than in town, especially towards evening – suggest guests bring a jacket, a shawl or a jumper.
- Safety. Everyone follows the crew’s instructions and doesn’t lean over the side – including for keepsake photos.
- Moderation. Toasts, yes, but with water and snacks to hand. Alcohol on the boulevards before the cruise is out of the question – drinking in public places is generally prohibited in Poland.
We’ve gathered tips on what to wear and what to bring in our article what to bring on a party cruise and which dress code to choose.
How much does a wedding reception on a boat in Szczecin cost?
We price family celebrations individually: the amount depends mainly on how many guests you invite, which menu you choose and which extras you add. The packages can serve as a reference point: in Szczecin Basic costs from €16 per person, Star from €20 per person and VIP from €31 per person, for groups of 30 or more. For 30 guests on the Star package, that means a cost starting from roughly €600 (30 × €20), plus your chosen extras, e.g. catering, decorations or a film.
Summer weekends are the most popular wedding dates, so book your cruise well in advance – the formal minimum is 5 working days, but for a wedding it’s not worth leaving it to the last minute. We’ve set out all the steps in order in our boat party organisation checklist. And if you’re looking for a gift for the happy couple, consider a cruise voucher – it’s valid for 6 months.
